Today I:
*Went to a meeting with the National Park Service, where we reached agreement on Burners Without Borders helping design/install permanent fire rings on Ocean Beach that are functional art, as well as informational signage explaining that fires are to be shared. That last bit’s important: they’d wanted them sited at the base of staircases, so LE can respond faster, figuring that since there would only be 12 rings, there would be conflicts requiring LE to roll. Hadn’t considered that fires can create community, rather than be just a source of resource conflict.
*Spent four hours talking about art, social capital, energy conversion systems and dynamic expressions of same at Burning Man, with Jim Mason, of the Shipyard. Ouch–my head hurts from being around people *that* smart. But in a good way.
*Meeting with BM environment web team about site we’re hoping to launch tomorrow–I’m the bottleneck/problem child there.
*Promptly from there to a two hour Green Working Group meeting about energy use/storage/generation on the playa.
In between, I ate lunch, dealt with M’s frustration @ my attempt to frontload tomorrow’s field trip, talked with crew about movie dinner discussion this weekend, and spent just a moment or two with AG. Am now at home, feeling very, very crispy, and wondering just how I’m to keep this up for another 10 months?
